We asked the key figures of the UK sustainability community on Twitter what their inspirations, sustainable life hacks and hopes are for 2019.
Here are there comments on our third question – what innovation offers you the greatest hope for a sustainable future?
#Sus100 whilst it can be a difficult space, social media can be a really fabulous space to support and tell stories of sustainability. Used well it can support more involvement from others and skill sharing. https://t.co/dv0hfovbw8

In all honesty we don’t need any new innovations.
We already have all the tools to create a sustainable future easily accessible at our fingertips.
I think it’s something very human to seek new solutions and this is a distraction from cracking-on and doing what needs to be done.

The whole nexus of decentralised renewables, efficiency, storage, demand side response, and ability for these assets to be owned & controlled by consumers
It's still very early days for this tech, equivalent to mobile phones in 1980s. We can't yet imagine what might be possible https://t.co/XMdclO9V1v

Innovations enabling more community ownership & involvement away from private profiteering provides me greatest hope for a more sustainable future eg. Crowdfunding of Community Shares & Assets, Community Energy & Utilities, Community £ etc. #AskTheSus100 https://t.co/mkvpTJ2A6P

Not sure it’s innovation @triodosuk but the one thing we need is courage. The courage to admit what’s happening & change. To stop negating & disavowing the evidence & facts before our eyes. To address what it is that scares us about these facts. To step away from our fear. & ACT.

Hopeful innovation: decentralisation of the internet & the mass uptake of #blockchain & #cryptocurrency projects that incentivise citizens to engage in actions/behaviours that enhance the common social & environmental good.
